About Us

About scorpionsolitaire.app

We publish a free, modern browser version of Scorpion Solitaire — the tableau-building patience game with a deep-grab twist — with unlimited undo, hints, and a layout that works on any screen.

Our craft

One deck. A deeper grab.

Reach past the top card, build every suit home, and let a finished run collect itself. That loop is everything we design around.

What we make

A free Scorpion that stays in the browser

scorpionsolitaire.app is the site behind our version of Scorpion Solitaire. The product is a single-player card game: deal seven columns, grab any face-up card — even from the middle of a column — and build all four suits from King down to Ace directly in the tableau.

We are not an app-store publisher and there is nothing to download. The game is the website. That keeps load times short, works on phones and desktops alike, and avoids an account wall. Best times, scores, move counts, and streaks live in local browser storage on your device.

If you are comparing this to another solitaire site, this page only speaks for scorpionsolitaire.app. The rules described in our how-to-play guide and FAQ match this exact build.

Our story

A game defined by one unusual rule

Scorpion's history is shorter and less documented than older patience games — but the rule that defines it is distinctive enough that we built this site around explaining it properly.

  1. 01

A newer member of the family

Scorpion does not have the well-documented, centuries-old lineage of games like Klondike or Spider. It appears to have spread through digital and shareware solitaire collections from the 1990s and 2000s onward, and the exact origin of its name and rules is not reliably recorded.

  2. 02

    What makes it different

Most tableau solitaire games only let you move a card from the top of a pile, or a run that is already in perfect order. Scorpion breaks that convention: any face-up card is fair game, no matter how deep it sits, and its neighbours simply ride along. That one rule changes the entire feel of the game.

  3. 03

    This build

scorpionsolitaire.app is an independent, modern implementation of that ruleset. The rules are exact — same-suit placement, Kings-only empty columns, a single three-card reserve — with a rendering that is smooth on a phone, synthesized sound with a real mute, and quality-of-life tools like unlimited undo and hints that older versions rarely offered.

What we stand for

Principles behind every deal

Instant to start

Open the page and a game is already dealt. No account wall, no download, no splash video — the cards are on the table before you finish reading this sentence.

The real rules

The full deep-grab rule, exact same-suit placement, a one-time three-card reserve, and self-collecting runs — implemented precisely, not a simplified approximation.

Yours to keep

Best time, best score, fewest moves, and win streak live on your device. We do not hold your record hostage behind a login, because there is no login.

Free, for real

The whole game is free forever. No energy meters, no interstitial video ads between deals, no surprise paywall on any control.

Who it is for

Players who want a clean game of patience

scorpionsolitaire.app is a family-friendly, single-player game with no chat and no store. A poor fit if you want multiplayer or live events; a good fit if you want the real game of Scorpion, exactly as it is meant to be played, on whatever screen is nearby.

  • Short sessions

A deal takes a few minutes. Scorpion is built for a phone on the couch or a browser tab between tasks, not a long campaign.

  • Puzzle thinking, not reflexes

There is no clock forcing a move and nothing to react to. The entire challenge is figuring out which card to grab, and from how deep.

  • Play without an account

Your record stays on the device you played on. That is a deliberate trade: instant play and real privacy, with no cloud restore.

Why this site

How scorpionsolitaire.app is different

Scorpion has fewer faithful implementations online than the bigger-name solitaire games. This one exists to get the rule that matters most — the deep grab — exactly right, with no clutter around it.

  • The whole rule, not a simplification

Some digital versions quietly limit you to top-card moves, which turns Scorpion into a much harder, different game. This one implements the full mid-column grab, every time.

  • Tools that respect your time

Unlimited undo, a hint that actually points at a useful move, and a double-click quick move so an obvious play never costs a slow drag.

  • No clutter

No auto-playing video, no fake "download our app" banners, no dark patterns around the settings. The how-to-play guide and FAQ describe this exact engine, not a generic write-up.

How we build

Designed for the browser you already have

The game runs entirely on the web: fast loads, drag / tap / keyboard controls, and progress that stays local unless you clear your browser data. We use lightweight analytics to see what helps players — never to gate the game behind a profile. The engine on the home page is the one described on our rules pages, so search results and the live game never drift apart.

  • Play anywhere

Phone, tablet, and desktop share one board. Drag with a mouse, tap on a touchscreen, or use the keyboard shortcuts for the reserve, undo, and hints.

  • Progress on your device

Best time, best score, fewest moves, and streak are stored locally. You own the continuity of your record without signing up.

  • Quiet improvement

We watch aggregate usage through Google Analytics to improve pacing and polish. Details are in our Privacy Policy — never as a sales pitch.
